10 Things AEW Fans Want After Double Or Nothing

8. No Authority Figures

When the legendary Awesome Kong made her return to the wrestling world for the first time in three years, it was with AEW's Chief Branding Officer Brandi Rhodes at her side.

Rhodes cut a promo before she introduced Kong and seemed to imply that she had some sort of power in booking matches for the women's division. If this sounds familiar, it's because this is the same schtick that Stephanie McMahon has been pulling for the last five or so years.

Fans of AEW are looking to the promotion for change, but Brandi's actions here made it seem like they're going down the same path that WWE is on at the moment - a path of heel authority figures.

Ever since Stone Cold Steve Austin first got up in Vince McMahon's face, WWE have been fixated with the idea of heel authority figures. Vickie Guerrero, John Laurinaitis, every single McMahon EVER; they've all played a bad guy gone mad with power and they've all ruined the trope for wrestling fans forever.

If AEW want to improve on WWE's mistakes, they need to avoid things like this. Brandi can play a heel, definitely, but she needs to avoid exerting any power or face being deemed a carbon copy of the competition.
