10 Things CM Punk Revealed In Colt Cabana Interview Part 2
2. The Details On The No-Compete Clause And His Settlement
Punk also addressed the people who keep criticizing him for walking out on his contract. He makes it clear that he thinks the WWE contracts are not worth the paper they're printed on, and if they were he wouldn't have settled so easy and been free to tell his side of they story on the podcast. He didn't sue them, he just made certain requests and was granted them, including being given the money he asked for. He also talked about how you can not hold a performer to no-compete clause when that performer is considered an independent contractor. This part could have huge ramifications for WWE going forward, as it's always been a source of contention between the company and ex-employees, and something that even the most loyal of WWE fans would have to admit is an unfair business practice. Between Punk and Alberto Del Rio both recently being freed from the constraints of those clauses, we may be on our way to seeing the entire concept done away with.
