4. Savage Vs Steamboat At WrestleMania 3 Had 19 Near Falls
For those who are not familiar, please run to the WWE Network, pull up WrestleMania 3, and fire up the Intercontinental Championship match between "Macho Man" Randy Savage and Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat. Without a doubt, this is one of the greatest wrestling matches in pro wrestling history. These two went at it for over 15 minutes, and if you count how many near falls there were in this match, you would come to the total of 19. There were so many close calls. The action went back and forth and never let up for the entire duration. The heel Savage would try to introduce the ring bell into the match, but George "The Animal" Steele would prevent it and cause enough distraction for Steamboat to reverse a scoop slam into a small package for the victory. Most matches will have a couple of near falls on average at the end of it, and end on a finisher. It is kinda hard by today's standards to figure such a great match would end on just a small package after 19 near falls, but it did.
