When CM Punk finally broke his silence on Colt Cabanas Art of Wrestling podcast last November, it provided closure for a lot of fans, whilst simultaneously lifting the curtain and giving fans a peek at what goes on behind the scenes. One of the many interesting topics concerned The Shield and how they were originally supposed to be a stable supporting CM Punk. Looking back at the booking at the time it certainly made sense, as The Shield repeatedly interfered in Punks matches to help him retain the championship, most notably against The Rock at Royal Rumble 2013. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8ukgZ8opBI Punk also revealed that he didnt want Roman Reigns in the stable, and his suggestions were Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, and Chris Hero. According to Punk, Triple H immediately dismissed Hero (who was reportedly out of shape at the time) and instead suggested Reigns, who was then wrestling as Leakee. Punk reluctantly conceded, believing it was not his hill to die on, and so Reigns had his spot in The Shield.
