10 Things You Didn't Know About Sean O'Haire

8. He Was Respected And Liked By Everyone

The messages and tweets about his tragically early passing all indicate that, for the four years that his professional wrestling career lasted, Sean Christopher Haire was loved and respected by pretty much everyone that knew him. Sylvester Terkay and Matt Morgan both reminisce over how he went out of his way to take them under his wing and look after them in their early days, while Torrie Wilson and Dawn Marie can only express sorry at the early loss of their funny, sweet and protective friend. We€™ve already spoken of Vince Russo€™s sorrow€ other friends like Matt Hardy, Brian Kendrick, John Layfield, Funaki, Hulk Hogan, Mike Sanders, Charlie Haas and Norman Smiley all pay tribute to his talent and good nature. Our favourite story told isn€™t from one of his friends or colleagues, however. Future NWA champion Adam Pearce recalls his first tryout match with WCW in late 1999, where Power Plant manager Paul €˜Mr. Wonderful€™ Orndorff tasked trainee O€™Haire to help evaluate the potential new recruit:
€œWhat no one knew was that I went into it with a decimated left shoulder (I had partial reconstructive surgery the following year, which explains the big scar that I wear to this day). I really shouldn't have even been there with the injury€ As we were set to begin, I secretly said to him, "Please watch my left shoulder, it's gone. €œWith everyone watching, he didn't say a word. He simply looked me in the eye, and nodded a subtle "yes" in response. €œWe had our €˜match€™, which I put in quotes because at any point he could've yanked on my arm and exposed me, which would've showed everyone that I was hurt. If he chose to he could've easily embarrassed me physically. He didn't. €œInstead, he worked with me. He took care of me, never touching my left arm, and really served to help me look better than I should have. And even though I ended up not signing WCW's contract, I have never ever forgotten what he did. Godspeed, Sean O'Haire. Thank you again, and rest in peace.€
