9. He Played Himself In Controversial Movie Ready To Rumble
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IPGSXoge3B4 WWE stars and movies is as common as fish and chips these days, but back around the turn of the century, Sting was making the switch to the big screen way before the likes of The Miz and Randy Orton. Thankfully he wasn't in The Marine, but unfortunately, he was in a film that was arguably just as bad. Ready to Rumble was a film made alongside WCW, with the story that two regular guys got involved with professional wrestling. David Arquette was in it (maybe a big reason in why it only grossed $12 million from a $24 million budget, I suppose), and it set the tone for the demise of WCW. There were a whole host of cameos from WCW stars (including DDP and Goldberg), but the scene involving Sting is pretty controversial. Sting drops down into the middle of the scene (a tribute to him dropping from the rafters), before one of the protagonists declares that as men, they "weren't afraid to say they loved each other". That's fair enough, seen as how we live in a forward-thinking society. But Sting scowls at the men, which almost seems to suggest what he's just said makes him want to vomit. In fact, instead of vomiting, he opts to beat both men up instead. Admittedly, that's not exactly in-keeping with the WWE's policies surrounding homophobia.
