6. His First Match Against Ric Flair Was A Time-Limit Draw
Where Sting vs. Vader is one of those rivalries that sometimes gets forgotten (and probably won't be remembered too much in 20 or 30 years time), Sting vs. Ric Flair is perhaps the greatest rivalry in wrestling history. It dates back years and years, and you imagine if the Stinger does become a regular on WWE TV, we will see a confrontation between Flair and Sting at some point. As many people will surely know, the final contest in WCW history was between these two legends of professional wrestling, in a fitting end to the promotion. But way, way back when, the first ever tussle between "The Icon" and the "Nature Boy" was an epic 45-minute contest. It was at Clash of the Champions in 1988 - the same night as WrestleMania IV. But Mania will fade into obscurity in this particular instance, as most wrestling fans will have been absorbed by an absolutely epic wrestling match at the first ever hosting of Clash of the Champions. The NWA World Heavyweight Championship was on the line, but despite Sting dominating large parts of the contest, the judges couldn't be split on who should be given the victory. The time-limit draw is something we don't see too often (if at all) in wrestling these days, but Flair and Sting laid the foundations for their unbelievable rivalry with one such example here.
