10 Things You Didn't Know About Vince McMahon

10. He Owned A Pro Hockey Team

Achl Ccbuc82 Gif Though he worked for WWE during the late 1970s, Vince McMahon was desperate to forge out on his own and prove himself a self-made success. He leased the Cape Cod Coliseum in Massachusetts, began promoting events there, and found himself doing well. He decided that the next logical step was to purchase a minor league hockey team which would use the Coliseum as its home base. Buying the Atlantic Coast Hockey League's Cape Cod Buccaneers, McMahon began to aggressively scout players and coaches. Unfortunately, it was all for naught €“ not only was the Cape Cod area too loosely populated to support a local team, but the Buccaneers' losing record meant less revenue, as well. In the end, the team folded after a single season, and remains McMahon's first foray into the world of legitimate sports, if not his most infamous.
