10 Things You Didn't Know About WWE's Hell In A Cell Gimmick

4. Cell Falls Are Banned

The reason Hell in a Cell is over as a gimmick is because of the infamous Foley bumps. What's funny though, is those spots will never happen again. WWE has "cell falls" on their list of banned actions, alongside things like chairs to the head and bleeding. It's just one of those risks that the company doesn't want to take anymore. The trouble for WWE is that falls are so synonymous with the gimmick. Hence every modern cell bout just feels a bit... ordinary. Something like Mick's roof spot will never diminish in memories (even more so with WWE Network). So for WWE to ban the falls really hurts the gimmick - big spots are something that fans can't help but to hope for. It doesn't help that the video games like WWE 2K14 still allow falls through the cell, reminding fans of the true extreme nature of the classic gimmick. The 2006 introduction of the new cell also meant that falls were pretty much impossible. The extra height on the cage really would be a killer. So if you're watching a future cell match for a big fall, sorry, but those days are over.
