10 Things You Don't Know About WWE In 1993

1. Vince McMahon€™s First Stint As A Heel Was In USWA

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oI_1cW-1xZc You might think that Vince McMahon€™s first time as a heel was immediately after the Montreal Screwjob in 1997. Think again. The WWF and the United States Wrestling Association (USWA) had a talent-sharing cross-promotion going on in 1993 and 1994, right around the time that Jerry Lawler had been brought into the company. You would routinely see major WWF stars like Bret Hart and Randy Savage (and minor stars like Owen Hart, Papa Shango, and Koko B. Ware) come to the USWA to wrestle Jerry Lawler in the main event. In fact, Lawler and Savage had a serious feud that lasted for months. One of the more interesting cameos in the USWA was Vince McMahon. At the time, Vince wasn€™t yet outed as the owner of the WWF. He was still an announcer to the masses. McMahon cut numerous heel promos on USWA, referring to himself as €œThe voice of the WWF€ and talking in a condescending tone. He even going so far as to wear the USWA championship around his waist. A small audience got an even smaller glimpse of the infamous evil Mr. McMahon character that was to come.
