10 Things You Don't Know About WWE In 1993

5. Hulk Hogan Wrestled (Yes, Actually Wrestled) The Great Muta in Japan

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MxEDfufiwto On the particularly historic night of May 3, 1993, Hulk Hogan and Brutus Beefcake went to Japan to wrestle on a supershow in front of 55,000 fans at the Fukuoka Dome. The semi-main event was WWF Champion Hulk Hogan wrestling in a non-title match against IWGP Champion The Great Muta. In this match, the hokey Hulk Hogan that WWF fans were used to seeing was nowhere to be seen. This match actually proved that Hulk Hogan could wrestle when he wanted to. As he was doing catch-as-catch-can maneuvers and top wristlocks against Muta. Hogan won the match with a big boot and a lariat after Muta kicked out of the legdrop. After the match, in a post-match interview, Hogan said he wanted to win the IWGP Championship, that the WWF Championship was just a toy, and that he wanted to wrestle Antonio Inoki in the future. Another notable fact about this card was that Sting wrestled in the undercard, facing Scott Norton. This may have been the very first time that a WWF-contracted wrestler and a WCW-contracted wrestler were on the same wrestling card.
