10 Things You Don't Know About WWE In 1993

4. Skinner Was The Second Doink

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=06khWq3VpcY Doink the Clown has inexplicably had many incarnations throughout wrestling. The original Doink was played by Matt Borne, who passed away last year of a heart attack. Many will remember the ending to the Crush vs. Doink match at Wrestlemania 9, where a second Doink appeared from under the ring and hit Crush with a loaded prosthetic leg for the victory. What few might know is the identity of the second Doink. This was actually Skinner, whose real name is Steve Keirn. Keirn and Borne would take turns wrestling under the Doink moniker throughout the year. After Borne was suspended in September, Vince Lombardi (he of the Brooklyn Brawler and Kim Chee fame) took over as Doink. When Borne left the company and the Doink character turned face in 1994, it was played by Ray Apollo. It€™s amazing that the WWF put so much investment into such a terrible character. Keirn still works for the WWE as a trainer in NXT. He used to run Florida Championship Wrestling, which was the developmental organization for WWE for a while before it became NXT.
