10 Things You Don’t Know About WWE In 1996

8. The Samoan Gangster Party

Many people remember Fatu making his return in 1995 vowing to €œMake a Difference,€ dressing in bright colors and dancing funky. Fatu would remark about how he managed to get away from the gang lifestyle. What few probably remember is that in 1996, the gang was apparently coming back to get him. On the April 27 edition of Superstars, Fatu faced off against Owen Hart. In the audience were two Samoans who apparently knew Fatu, and they were drawing his attention, leading to Fatu losing the match. The two Samoans were his old Headshrinker partner, Samu, and their cousin Matt (who would end up having a slightly successful career in the WWE as Rosey). The two would again appear on the May 25 episode of Superstars; their mere presence being enough to cost Fatu another match against Steve Austin. The Gangster Party never attacked Fatu, and the angle was dropped immediately after the May 25 episode. Fatu would later be repackaged as The Sultan, and the Gangster Party would go to ECW.
