10 Things You Don’t Know About WWE In 1996

3. Edge Made His WWF Debut As Sexton Hardcastle

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4B4br1GrQk The journey for Edge in the WWF began not in 1998, but in 1996. At a house show in Hamilton, Ontario on May 10, Bob Holly defeated an unkown by the name of Sexton Hardcastle, which was the moniker he was using at the time in the independents. Edge got the opportunity by being at the right place at the right time. A year prior, he worked on a show where he caught the attention of Bret Hart€™s business manager, Carl DeMarco. Edge gave him a tape to send to the WWF, but he never heard from Carl until Carl was appointed as president of WWF€™s operations in Canada. Edge was then booked on the house show as a replacement for Holly€™s original opponent. Edge would receive a development contract the next year and debut in 1998.
