10 Things Everybody Gets Wrong About ECW

3. ECW On TNN Failed

There's no doubt that landing a national television slot was huge for ECW. When news spread that the company would produce a weekly one-hour show on TNN starting in August 1999, fans rejoiced. Finally, their beloved promotion wouldn't have to rely on syndication, and it'd have a platform countrywide.

It's just a shame that TNN never seemed arsed about pushing their new acquisition.

This, along with the fact ECW On TNN only ran for a year or so, has led to people believing the show was a complete failure. Newsflash: it wasn't. The only ones to blame here are TNN. They were the ones who refused to promote Paul Heyman's product despite solid ratings, and they were the ones who weirdly pressured him into changing aspects of it.

TNN obviously didn't do their homework before agreeing the deal. Had they done some research, they would've known that ECW was an untamable beast that needed to be wild. That, ladies and gents, was kinda' the entire point of the thing.
