Match: Steve Austin vs. The Rock (WWF WrestleMania X-Seven)

Why People Hate It: Yours truly will die on the hill of Steve Austin's 2001 heel turn not being that bad occasionally, but even he couldn't argue that it was something fans at the time wanted. It was certainly bold to book a 'Stone Cold' handshake with Vince McMahon in Texas at WrestleMania, that's for sure.

This, the second of an epic 'Mania trilogy of matches between Austin and The Rock, was the main event of X-Seven and a reminder why WCW bit the dust but WWF remained. A thumping pay-per-view concluded with a kickass brawl between old rivals, then 3:16 did a deal with "the devil himself" (JR's words) to cap it all off.

Austin's heel turn isn't looked upon fondly in retrospect, so most fans detest that moment.

Jim Ross has even said countless times (via his podcast) that Austin shouldn't have turned heel. Similarly, Steve has also stated that calling an audible and nailing McMahon with a kick-wham-Stunner would've been the way to go.
