10 Things Happening In WWE Right Now You Wouldn't Have Believed 12 Months Ago
2. WarGames Revived
For long-time fans of wrestling, one of the most beloved and legendary matches in the history of the game is the iconic WarGames.
Originally a staple of Jim Crockett Promotions, the two-ringed circus was the ultimate in caged warfare. Finding a new home in WCW, the WarGames match eventually became a recurring fixture of Fall Brawl and saw countless bloody brawls over the years.
WWE's decision to leave the match dormant has been a recurring point of contention for fans and a veritable magnet for criticism online. Meanwhile, the invention of bogus match incarnations - such as The Punjabi Prison and House of Horrors - has only heightened the clamouring for the WarGames revival.
Luckily for the fans, Vince McMahon's stance on WCW property appears to have changed recently and the legendary bout will make its return in November. However, in a telling move, the match won't take place on the main card; instead, it will be part of NXT TakeOver prior to Survivor Series.
While the decision to revive the fabled bout on the secondary stage of NXT may seem odd, it's likely a compromise between an eager Triple H and a reluctant Vince. Either way, TakeOver looks set to be explosive when war is declared in NXT.
