10 Things In WWE That Started Awful But Turned Out Great

8. Goldberg

Goldberg's WWE run from 2003-04 was lackluster at best. Gone were the days of effortless squashing, and fans were presented with a Goldberg who wrestled competitive matches just like everyone else. This is not to say that competitive matches are a bad thing - this is to say that so much of Golberg's mystique was that he could beat people in a matter of seconds. Making him "just another wrestler" and having him lose to Triple H effectively stripped him of everything that made him special in WCW.

His 2016-17 return, however, was exactly the way he needed to be booked from the get-go.

In his first match back at the 2016 Survivor Series, Goldberg did what was assumed to be impossible and defeated Brock Lesnar. Not only did he beat him, but he only needed a minute and 26 seconds to do so. He followed this up by winning the Universal Title over Kevin Owens in just 22 seconds, and with that, Goldberg was back. While his rematch with Lesnar at WrestleMania 34 almost reached 5 minutes, it may have been the best sub-five-minute match in WWE history.

Goldberg hasn't wrestled since then, but he has certainly redeemed himself.
