10 Things John Cena Haters Should Stop Complaining About
6. Backstage Politics
John Cena barely ever loses. He's been at the top for so long and won so many championships because, quite simply. he is rarely ever booked to lose. It's even rarer still that he is booked to lose a match cleanly. With a win-loss record like Cena's, it's inevitable that people will question whether he is using his influence as a high-profile star to screw over other performers by playing politics backstage. Obviously, Cena has a lot of influence backstage and it would be difficult for anyone to avoid exercising that power. However, it is bizarre to suggest that Cena is the only top star ever to work in this way. Hulk Hogan, beloved of wrestling fans as a true legend of the business, is well known for being a notorious backstage politician, who refused to put younger talent over and was unhappy about being booked to lose. Compared to Hogan, there are very few stories about Cena exerting his backstage influence. Edge and Chris Jericho have weighed in regarding the main event at SummerSlam 2010 after which Cena apologised for refusing to put over the Nexus, despite the fact they were a surging young stable. Former WWE star Kenny Dykstra has also been vocal about Cena keeping him down, although there's a question mark over Dykstra due to the fact that Cena was involved with his girlfriend, Mickie James. Cena has used backstage politics in the past, but it seems that it isn't nearly as common as people seem to think. He's not the Hulk Hogan of his age. He's simply a guy with a lot of influence who occasionally makes a bad call.
