10 Things John Cena Haters Should Stop Complaining About

5. Putting People Over

John Cena is a prominent superstar in WWE. John Cena is not, however, a member of the WWE's creative team. The decision as to whether to put younger talent over does not rest with Cena, but with those who book the matches. Cena came under fire this year after he came out on top in his rivalry with Bray Wyatt. It's true that he should've been booked to lose cleanly to Wyatt, but fans should not be criticising Cena for this as if it's his personal choice. It isn't. WWE superstars are performers, working to scripted outcomes. Whilst they may be able to use their backstage heft to get the results they want, it's the booking team who are in charge of who ultimately has to lie down for the three count. There's also the issue that Cena is still the top guy in the company. He can't lose to every young superstar he meets in the ring, otherwise beating him won't mean anything anymore. Rob Van Dam used to be a big scalp for younger stars, but he now loses so regularly that he feels more like a midcard jobber than a legend. It would be unfortunate for Cena to lose his shine in the same way because, right now, a clean win against John Cena is a true sign of greatness.
