One of the key criticisms that people have of John Cena is that, despite his shortcomings, he is almost a dead cert to beat Ric Flair's record 16 world championship reigns. Cena is only one more title reign away from that record and, with plenty of miles left on the clock, he will almost certainly become the most decorated superstar in WWE history. The reverence fans have for the legendary 'Nature Boy' is honourable, but the fact remains that John Cena deserves his position. It's impossible to be at the top for as long as Cena has without working incredibly hard and keeping the fans entertained. Whatever the anti-Cena faction of the WWE Universe says, Cena is an incredibly hard worker who is very good as champion. It also helps that, as WWE enters a transitional period towards the next crop of main event talents, Cena is the perfect candidate to look after the title whilst new stars are built. In the absence of Daniel Bryan, WWE needed someone to plug the gap before Brock Lesnar's return. Like it or not, the safe pair of hands that is John Cena was the only real option. Cena will overtake Flair, but at the end of the day, it's only a number and Cena deserves recognition for his remarkable commitment to the business. The champ is here for a long time yet.
