5. Larger Than Life Characters

Many commentators have stated recently that WWE is currently lacking relatable characters, but the opposite is true. WWE has no shortage of everyday types that we as fans can relate to. Kevin Owens, AJ Styles, Sami Zayn, Dean Ambrose, and more are all individuals that we know have worked their socks off to get where they are without being the stereotypical muscle-bound types the company used to be so enamoured with.

What WWE is lacking is the larger than life characters that really take us out of the everyday and into the more theatrical side of professional wrestling. Currently, we only have a small number of true 'characters'; Bray Wyatt is the obvious one, but you've got to go all the way to the supplemental draft to find another individual who you don't think is just playing an exaggerated version of themselves.

WWE needs more Bray Wyatts, more Braun Strowmans. This isn't to say they need Papa Shango and Saba Simba back, but just some creativity on behalf of the talent would be nice.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
