When The Undertaker returned in May 2000, it was as a completely different character than he previously played. Gone was the ominous organ music, Paul Bearer, and aura of being The Lord Of Darkness. In its place was a motorcycle, a bandana and loud rock music. Till this day, that controversial move is polarizing among fans, with some swearing off that era and vowing to not watch anything from 2000 to 2004, while others clamor for him to return at Wrestlemania as The American Badass.
Since then, it's been said that gimmick was a product of the time, as wrestlers were putting more of themselves into their on-screen characters.
