It seems like rumours of The Undertaker’s impending retirement are bandied around after every single WrestleMania appearance. They grow louder and more numerous with each passing year, and with good reason: ‘Taker will be 52 by the time WM 33 comes around, and while his appearances remain one of ‘Mania’s annual highlights, his old, broken down body just can’t do this much longer.

There were huge suggestions in the immediate aftermath of ‘Taker’s WM 32 match with Shane McMahon that his time in the company had hit an abrupt end, but those stories are yet to be confirmed. Undertaker wasn’t included in the 2016 Draft, which opens up the possibility of him appearing on both Raw and SmackDown, but with his declining importance to the company, his retirement has never looked likelier.

The Undertaker is the greatest WWE superstar of all-time. Nobody can hold a candle to the things he’s done for the company, and if WM 33 proves to be his swan song, look for this to be announced before long. WWE won’t simply announce The Undertaker’s retirement without making a major effort to promote and celebrate The Phenom’s long, prosperous WWE career and set his final match up as one of 2017’s most emotional moments. Regardless of who he faces, ‘Taker’s retirement will be announced several months in advance, and while ‘Mania isn’t in his native Texas this year, Orlando would be a great moment for him to bow-out on.
