10 Things That Didn't Go The Way WWE Wanted
1. Batista's Return
It was evident that WWE's goal in bringing Batista back in 2014 was to have him win the Royal Rumble and then the World Championship at WrestleMania. Unfortunately for him, a certain bearded underdog was a bit too popular to ignore.
While The Animal's initial return was fairly well-received, his entry into the Rumble was met with a mixed (but mostly negative) reaction. This reaction turned wholly negative when the fans learned that Daniel Bryan would not be entering the match. The fans booed everything, and they didn't stop.
After Batista (obviously) won, it got much worse.
Any time he entered the ring, the fans drowned him out with boos and chants for Daniel Bryan. The "YES! Movement" eventually became too prevalent for WWE to subdue, so Bryan was added to the World Championship match with Batista and Randy Orton at WrestleMania XXX. Not only did Bryan win, but he made The Animal tap out, creating one of the most genuine "feel-good moments" in WrestleMania history.
As for Batista, he would never end up winning the gold and he'd be gone from the company six months after he came back. While this brief run tarnished his legacy, it helped solidify Daniel Bryan's.
