10 Things That Happened BEFORE Wrestling Matches WWE Won't Tell You

2. Hardcore Holly Gives Advice To A Young Edge

Wrestling is an altogether nicer place now than it was in the seedy underbelly days of the 20th century.

Various vlogs paint a picture of a feel-good brotherhood in which the jobbers of the day are anointed as endearing cult figures whose hard work, in the case of for example Fuego Del Sol, is rewarded with a gifted contact on live national television. Were Fuego to have came up in the late 1990s WWF, he'd have been terrorised by the mean-spirited (but undeniably funny) Hardcore Holly.

"Don't try to get your finish over on me, ya little sh*thead!"

The enhancement talents of yore were victims of quite unconscionable cruelty. If their necks weren't nearly being broken by the Shaker Heights Spike, they were left clueless as to what exactly they had to do by Hardcore Holly. Case in point: Edge.

Desperate to make a favourable impression, he asked his senior opponent which finish he'd like to use to effectively put him over. Holly's response was typically, belligerently blunt: "The finish is I kick your ass." No wonder Edge is incredibly, comedically intense.

Between this and JBL threatening to sexually assault him, he didn't so much mature in a wrestling promotion but San Quentin State Prison.
