10 Things That Must Be On The AEW Streaming Service
9. Indie Content
Where once WWE liked to pretend to fans that it was essentially the only wrestling promotion in world, in recent times that stance has softened. This will continue with Triple H at the helm. It actually suits his self-image as a guy with his finger on wrestling’s pulse if you know that he knows exactly where his NXT darlings came from.
This acknowledgment of the wider wrestling world goes beyond mentioning ROH, NJPW and even AEW on WWE television. As unlikely as it once seemed, WWE Network plays host to independent wrestling from the likes of Progress and Insane Championship Wrestling.
As a would-be one stop shop for all types and genres of wrestling, it wouldn’t hurt AEW to bring some standout indie stuff to its own platform. Whether it’s the PWG battlegrounds where the likes of Adam Cole and The Young Bucks forged their reputations, or the GWC bloodbaths where Jon Moxley still regularly loses plasma, AEW should do everything they can to get independent wrestling old and new under the AEW banner. Plus, if they can, they should secure PAC’s (and future champion’s) All-Atlantic Title defences across other promotions for AEW completists to enjoy.
