10 Things That Must Be On The AEW Streaming Service
7. Best Of The “Road To…” Series
Every single week, AEW releases hype packages for that weeks episodes of television under its “Road To…” banner, featuring clips, quotes and additional promos designed to sell you on the upcoming matches. Often these promos are more expansive than the breathless tone of Dynamite allows, and they are all the better for it.
The bar was set high from the very beginning with Cody and Dustin Rhodes talking up their sibling rivalry for Road To Double Or Nothing back in 2019. But you don’t have to go back that far for evidence that the “Road To…” series should be a fixture of your weekly wrestling viewing. In the past month alone, Eddie Kingston, Anthony Bowens and 2point0 have all given standout performances that don’t just sell the next fight, but enhance the stature of the performer. Whether it’s Bowen’s vulnerability or Daddy Magic’s serious side, “Road To…” gives guys a chance to show a different side and get themselves even further over.
Of course, the best of these gain some traction on social media, with fans on Reddit, Twitter and so on sharing them around. Inevitably, though, a lot of AEW viewers miss this kind of shoulder programming entirely. Once they have their own streaming service, AEW needs to find a way to repackage the best of these "Road To..." promos and help fans find highlights they might have missed.
