10 Things That Must Happen At WrestleMania 33
4. Win Owens Win
Chris Jericho is taking time away from WWE after WrestleMania to tour with his band, Fozzy, which serves as a pretty good indication that Y2J won’t be walking out of WrestleMania 33 with the United States Championship. Regardless of surrounding circumstances, a Kevin Owens victory is the right call here.
As much as we might want to see Owens finally get his comeuppance for assaulting Jericho at the Festival of Friendship, KO is finally back on track to being the dominant heel that made him so dangerous and compelling on NXT and during his early main roster run. If Jericho is taking time off, he doesn’t particularly benefit from a win, and losing decisively will only make him a more sympathetic character for his next inevitable return.
Owens, on the other hand, could use a win after being emphatically squashed by Goldberg at Fastlane. A US title victory and a subsequent dominant reign would offset the damage done by his Universal Championship loss, and would vindicate Triple H somewhat for putting his faith in KO in the first place.
Besides, a brash and regularly defending Canadian heel is probably just what the United States Championship needs to restore some of its recently lost lustre.
