I may not like it, you may not like it, the fans in attendance may not like it, but Roman Reigns going over The Undertaker is the right call.

The internet wrestling community loves to admonish WWE for putting old guys over younger Superstars, but a lot of fans renege on that stance when it comes to Roman Reigns. But with The Undertaker’s health issues mounting and becoming ever-more severe, it’s finally time to give The Phenom the heartfelt send-off he so thoroughly deserves.

And there’s no better way to do that than having him usher in a new dominant Superstar.

Sure, it would probably have been a more enticing prospect were The Undertaker facing Balor or Joe or Styles – hell, even the oft-hyped dream match between Taker and Cena would have been preferable. But Reigns vs Taker is what we’ve been given, and Roman picking up the victory is the best way to ensure rich and fruitful storylines going into the next few years.

If Roman wins, the heat will be nuclear, and WWE will have succeeded in cementing him as one of the most controversial figures in the history of the business. If Taker wins, it’s a nice moment, sure, but it doesn’t accomplish anything greater, and will render what could have been an extremely dramatic moment as merely servicable or comfortable.
