10 Things That Must Happen At WWE Super Show-Down
6. Buddy Murphy Defeats Cedric Alexander
In a true "let's just throw a bone to the Aussies" move, 205 superstar Buddy Murphy, a Melbourne native, will once again face Cedric Alexander for the Cruiserweight Championship at Super Show-Down. Editorial aside: this author was in attendance in Raleigh, North Carolina for Alexander's last defense against Murphy, and it was fantastic. Frankly, the moniker of "WWE's Best Kept Secret" is misleading for Buddy Murphy, as he's really more "WWE's Most Well-Known Great Hand That Is Stuck On A Show No One Watches." Because trust me, he belongs in a position that'd better showcase his talent.
Anyway, Buddy Murphy should win the Cruiserweight title in his hometown. This would be prudent, not just to throw a bone to the home crowd, but also to reinvigorate the cruiserweight division. While, at the time, it seemed right to base the post-Enzo Amore Cruiserweight division around a pure athlete like Cedric Alexander, ultimately, his straight-up babyface shtick has not endeared fans of 205 Live for very long.
With Buddy winning the title in his hometown on such a heavily promoted show, it would re-invigorate hardcore fan interest in 205 Live, and also make casual fans think, "well, I best take another look at 205 Live, since cruiserweight stuff is actually happening on the PPVs."
