10 Things That MUST Happen Before AEW Full Gear 2022

8. Someone Turns On Their Legendary Manager

AEW books legends better than any other modern wrestling promotion.

Sting has elevated Darby Allin without overshadowing his proven ratings draw of a TNT Title reign. Arn Anderson coaches Cody Rhodes rather than managing him, with his subtle mannerisms throughout Cody's matches adding extra spice to his role. Taz has created this coalition of legitimate fighters, matching his own style from ECW's glory days without it being a complete ripoff.

It's transcendent, and certainly benefits those wrestlers involved, but the honeymoon period is over. AEW no longer requires this many legendary figures onscreen. At least one must go.

The thing with Sting and Arn is that either Cody or Darby could feasibly establish themselves as a top heel just by slapping their respective manager. AEW is a simple wrestling promotion for diehard wrestling fans; a fully-fledged beatdown wouldn't be required nor justified, really. Heel turns - and indeed babyface turns, for that matter - needn't always be abundantly flashy.

Of the trio mentioned above, Cody Rhodes seems the best fit to snap. Although he and Arn are now back in the same mindset, it's not the first time the 'American Nightmare' has been pushed towards breaking point. Having him finally snap, turn heel, and forge a new legacy would create some superlative new story arcs for AEW to explore.
