5. Fixing The Revolution

WWE would have you believe that women’s wrestling has become one of their primary focuses over the past few years, and while the scene has definitely risen in prominence, the “Women’s Revolution” tag still feels like a stretch. Moments such as Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte headlining Hell In A Cell helped elevated the division, but the past few months have been deeply mediocre, and there are a number of signs that the Revolution is falling apart.

Both Women’s Titles were defended in haphazard multi-person matches at WrestleMania, with the SmackDown contest allotted little more than five minutes in the pre-main event “death spot.” Both divisions are suffering from lazy “let’s just get as many people onscreen at the same time” booking at the moment, and with Raw’s division looking increasingly top-heavy and SmackDown’s lacking in star power, both brands have diminished since the turn of the year.

If WWE are as dedicated to women’s wrestling as they say they are, they must address these problems immediately. Otherwise, the Revolution will become a farce, and much of the effort put into promoting the division last year will have been for nothing.
