10 Things That Nearly Happened At WWE Survivor Series

9. Superstar Billy Graham Was Removed From Hulk Hogan's Team In 1987

The first Survivor Series event in 1987 was supposed to have a main event with Hulk Hogan captaining a team comprised of Paul Orndorff, Ken Patera, "Superstar" Billy Graham and Bam Bam Bigelow against Andre The Giant's team. However, Graham was replaced by Don Muraco and never wrestled in the match. Graham was at the end of his career in 1987 as he tried to make a comeback in his mid-40s. Graham was a former WWE World Champion, so it helped having him on the shows along with the younger talent. However, his back, hip and other injuries kept him from competing at a high level, and led to him wrestling his last match a few weeks prior to Survivor Series 87. Graham was written out of storylines when he was attacked by the One Man Gang, who gave him a running splash on the floor outside the ring. Don Muraco replaced Graham while Graham moved into a managerial role for a short time as a way to put over Muraco. It's a shame that Graham wasn't a part of that match because Hogan has mentioned how influential Graham was in his career and it would have been cool to see the two team up.
