10 Things That Prove December Is The Worst Month For Wrestling
2. December To Dismember
How much damage can one show do to the mood surrounding an entire month? A lot, when it's considered one of the worst PPV events of all time, and when the name of the month is in the show's title.
As a result, it's hard to think of lousy December wrestling moments without immediately thinking of December to Dismember, the only exclusive Pay-Per-View event of the revived ECW brand. The show was a complete mess, with only two matches announced ahead of time and only one bout that, according to most viewers, wasn't awful. As a result, it was the lowest-watched PPV event in WWE history.
The show opened with the one good match, which saw The Hardy Boyz defeat MNM, but from there it went downhill. Bouts like Balls Mahoney versus Matt Striker and Kevin Thorn and Ariel versus Mike Knox and Kelly Kelly did nothing but kill time (and the audience), and an Extreme Elimination Chamber main event, which Paul Heyman wanted to end with the coronation of CM Punk, led to a dispute between Heyman and Vince McMahon that led to the original ECW booker's dismissal.
Overall, the whole thing would have been better off forgotten, but that's not possible.
