7. More Time For The Cruiserweights
With the recent tournament to crown a new NXT Cruiserweight Champion and El Hijo Del Fantasma’s gimmick change to Santos Escobar, it seemed like NXT was finally going to give their cruiserweight division the time they deserve. However, besides a few six man tag matches on TV involving the Legado Del Fantasma stable, there hasn’t been a big storyline surrounding the Cruiserweight Title recently.
Despite plenty of opportunities for them, the Cruiserweight belt has not made it onto either TakeOver: In Your House or TakeOver XXX, and barely gets substantial television time. It's saddening considering that the turn of Santos Escobar is the most narratively successful accomplishment that NXT creative has pulled off in 2020, and the interim champion has been excelling with everything he's been given.
The prospect of big title matches with men like Isaiah “Swerve” Scott, Jake Atlas, and KUSHIDA have all the potential to steal any show they get put in. They just need the time and investment for it and if they don't correct course soon, they'd be better off putting energy back into 205 Live instead of giving the cruiserweights less effort than Raw did several years ago.
