10 Things That Would Be Happening In WWE If Fans Could Vote
6. A Roman Reigns Heel Turn
There are plenty of reasons to feel aggrieved by WWE’s current creative direction, but none are more significant than the Roman Reigns malaise. His “chosen one” project is two years deep now, but Reigns has shown no sign of winning the fans over. As the company’s top babyface, Roman has been a complete flop: WWE have tried everything in their power to turn it around, and they’ve been met with nothing but failure.
Some fans would likely vote to have Reigns cut outright, but common sense would prevail. Most level-headed wrestling fans realise that next to none of this is Reigns’ fault, and he’s simply been forced into a role he’s not suited to playing. He’s the least convincing babyface in the world, but with some slight adjustments, Roman Reigns can be one of WWE’s biggest assets.
Many fans spent most of John Cena’s burial years calling for a heel turn, and Reigns has inherited that mantle. His natural size, smarminess, and wrestling style make him perfectly suited to playing a straightforward, no-nonsense villain, and if he were to turn tomorrow, fans would lap it up. For as long as Reigns is “The Guy,” Raw’s main event scene is a convoluted mess: the natural remedy is to change his role, and most fans recognise this.
