10 Things That Would Happen If Vince Russo Returned To WWE Today
1. The Impact Invasion
Jeff Jarrett was a great wrestler.
Not, perhaps, a main event talent, but certainly a cut above much of the chasing pack. He was advantaged of course. Born into the business, Jarrett succeeded early in his career much due to the nepotistic whims of his father Jerry, but as David Flair, Erik Watts and Garrett Bischoff would attest to, the powerful father is not necessarily a golden ticket.
This was also true for 'Double J'. Destined to be a midcarder-for-life following two solid-but-unremarkable runs with the company, his key to the kingdom was presented by Vince Russo. A huge fan of Jeff in WWE, Russo scooped his friend up almost immediately after arriving in WCW, with a dejected Jarrett realising that a future in Vince McMahon's organisation was limited with Stone Cold Steve Austin hesitant to work alongside him in main events.
Though by no means his fault, a Jarrett-heavy WCW went out of business in 2001, and a TNA/Impact Wrestling product consistently synonymous with the 'King of the Mountain' has remained a distant Number Two (on it's best day) since it's 2002 formation.
Right around the time TNA sprung to life, Vince Russo made a surprise return to WWE as a creative consultant, but pitched a rebooted WCW Invasion idea so unappealing that relations broke down after a matter of days. Marching a Jarrett-led army into WWE flying an Impact Wrestling flag in 2017 would be top of his insane ideas list should he ever be allowed near the company again.
