10 Things That Would Happen If WWE Buys TNA
4. Other Ex-WWE Stars Will Scatter
While the aforementioned trio should be set for a big push should WWE retain their contracts in the event of a buyout, others won’t be so lucky. ECIII, Galloway, and Lashley have soared in TNA, but TNA’s other WWE cast-offs haven’t had the same level of success, and others have only just left WWE in the first place.
Newcomers Basile Baraka and Baron Dax found scarce success as NXT’s Legionnaires, and they’ve shown little in their limited TNA appearances to suggest WWE’s decision to cut them was a bad one. Aron Rex (the former Damien Sandow), meanwhile, has only just arrived in TNA after his WWE career ended in rank disappointment, and Tyrus (formerly Brodus Clay) was never anything more than a novelty act in Stamford.
Then there are the likes of Gregory Helms and Al Snow, two veterans who pair on-screen management duties with backstage production roles. Both are unlikely to find their way back to WWE, and neither is Josh Matthews, the oft-derided TNA play-by-play commentator who has been openly critical of McMahon & co. since his departure.
Such workers will, sadly, be cast-off into the wrestling wilderness should the deal materialise. Guys like Rex are more than talented enough to work their way back in the future, but many mainstream American wrestling careers will end if Vince McMahon opens his wallet.
