10 Things That Would Happen In A Real State Of The WWE Union Address

History was made at Hell in a Cell in late Oct., as Sasha Banks and Charlotte became the first two women to main event a WWE pay-per-view. This was a bold, and long overdue move but it’s only the start. The audience is looking for more diversity in the company, as the fans themselves continue to represent increasingly different demographics.

WWE may hang their hat on delivering Sasha vs. Charlotte, but if you dig deeper, the results are still deeply troubling. If any other major business had WWE’s male to female hiring ratio, the press would have a field day.

While WWE doesn’t release exact numbers, looking at the roster members page on Wikipedia can give us a general idea of the state of the company. There are 99 male wrestlers employed on Raw, SmackDown and NXT combined. There are 24 women total on those three brands. Add in seven male announcers and zero females who host one of the main shows, and it’s still a heavily male dominated company.

We’re bound to see more women hired in the next few years, but right now from a sheer numbers standpoint, WWE still has no room to boast or brag. Vince would have to let us know during his address that things will continue changing, and by 2020 we'll be looking at a whole new wrestling world, one that is set up where all can succeed...

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
