10 Things TNA Wants You To Forget About Kurt Angle

2. The TNA Screw Job

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H3cwDVunPAQ Speaking of an incident we would all like to and hopefully most of us have forgotten, The TNA Screw Job. Yes, yes, for those of you who didn't know, TNA had their own edition of the infamous Montreal Screw Job, that took place in January 2010. The scenario was that the challenger, Kurt Angle, would get one more shot at the championship, when his match the night before (ironically dubbed Last Chance Match) was interfered in by Ric Flair, in order to help A.J. Styles retain the title. On to the end of the match and Styles reversed the Angle Lock and, within seconds, Earl Hebner (yup that one) was calling for the bell without any signs of Angle having tapped out. Fast forward a few minutes later and Hulk Hogan is now at ringside and Angle is spitting, swearing and audibly threatening to take his talents to WWE. As this is taking place, Taz can be heard "whispering" on commentary, "did history just repeat itself?". Nothing would come of the storyline and ultimately Styles would lose his title to a recently acquired Rob Van Dam. Had this been the slightest bit different from WWE's version, it might have had room to grow, unfortunately it was too reminiscent of the original, without having any of the real heat to be effective.
