10 Things TNA Wants You To Forget About Matt And Jeff Hardy

4. Jeff Busted For Drugs

Jeff Hardy Prisonn

Every time TNA goes to the UK, Jeff Hardy is mysteriously absent from the trip. He is usually briefly written out of the storylines with an injury angle. Fans overseas may wonder why one of their favorites in the company can never come visit and say hello. It’s all stems back to 2009 when he was arrested for drug trafficking, leaving him unable to travel to England.

This happened a few weeks after he left WWE, and was in between jobs. He was busted with steroids, Vicodin, a residual amount of cocaine, and paraphernalia. While the court case was still pending, TNA picked him up, which was a very risky move. It would have looked terrible on their part if they hired a guy who was about to head to prison.

Lucky for Jeff, he plead guilty and had to serve 30 months probation, 10 days in jail, and paid $100,000. Things could have been much worse for the superstar, as a lengthy prison sentence would have effectively ended his wrestling career.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
