Matt Hardy’s final few months in WWE were a sad affair. He was putting on some weight, and being called out for it on air. He looked unmotivated, unhappy, and desperately wanting to be anywhere else. His behavior became increasingly erratic, and he started posting bizarre videos regularly saying he wanted to leave the company.

Finally WWE had no choice but to let him go. Something was clearly wrong with Matt, but that didn’t stop TNA from picking him up a couple months later to join their Immortal stable. He debuted against Rob Van Dam, and looked to be in even worse shape than before. It seemed he was there only to add a little star power, and as a favor to Jeff.
