10 Things To Remember About WWE Survivor Series 98 Deadly Game Tournament

2. WrestleMania 15 Main Event Was Set Up That Night

It doesn't happen every year, but there were some years where WWE set up the WrestleMania main event by doing a big angle at Survivor Series. Steve Austin was unquestionably the top babyface in WWE, even more so after being screwed by crooked ref Shane McMahon. Austin lost and he damn sure wasn't happy about it. At the end of the show, when The Rock was celebrating with Vince and Shane, Austin came out to get his hands on them. He went right after The Rock as they brawled all around the ringside area. It was a message from Austin to say that he was coming for him even though he knew Vince was going to make things difficult for Austin on the road to WrestleMania. That angle to end the night is what made people love Austin so much. He was the most relentless babyface fighter that we had ever seen and we knew that he wouldn't accept what had happened earlier in the evening. It's what made people tune in week after week while WWE reached new heights like they had never seen before.
