1. It Was A Great PPV Because Of The Booking (Not The Wrestling)
Survivor Series 1998 is one of those shows that is remembered by many fans as one of the best PPVs of the 1990s. It's not because of the matches, though, rather It was because of the booking and the fact that it was a fun show from start to finish. There were only two above average matches on the card and they were Mankind beating Steve Austin in the Semifinals as well as The Rock beating Mankind in the Finals. Other than those matches, most of the others were kept short and that really made it difficult for them to stand out or be memorable. It's not easy to book 14 match finishes on one show. They all had to make sense, yet none of them were that bad. Even with interference in some cases or weapons being used, they weren't repetitive and all of them made sense from a storyline perspective. With WWE running another tournament this year, there are all kinds of questions about the end of the tournament. Could Roman Reigns replace his cousin The Rock as the face that turns heel to join the heel in charge (Triple H instead of Vince McMahon) while Dean Ambrose could be in the Mankind role as the likeable guy that has no idea it's coming. They could do the finish and it would work perfectly again because they know it worked so well in 1998. This is why this show is relevant today. The tournament was a lot of fun to watch in 1998 and it's fun to re-watch again in 2015 on WWE Network. It's also an important night in WWE history that should never be forgotten.
