10 Things To Remember About WWE Survivor Series 98 Deadly Game Tournament
6. The Rock Beat Big Boss Man In Three Seconds
The Rock was getting ready to face Triple H in the first round of the tournament with Jim Ross saying Vince McMahon didn't want Austin to win. At the time, Rock was becoming a big babyface, so the story idea was that McMahon was opposed to anybody other than one of his guys winning it. Instead of Triple H, it was Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco who came out to say that Triple H was still out of action due to knee surgery. The replacement for The Rock was the Big Boss Man, who already lost earlier in the night when he was disqualified for attacking Steve Austin with a nightstick during their match. The match went like this: Boss Man goes in the ring, Rock does a small package and Boss Man can't kick out, so Rock wins in three seconds. Then Rock left the ring to avoid a beatdown. It was a very unique finish that you can't do too often, but it worked in this instance. Plus, with The Rock turning heel later, it made perfect sense in the story for Boss Man to lay down for him since he was aligned with McMahon at the time. We just didn't know The Rock was involved at that time too...
