10 Things To Take Away From WWE NXT Takeover: Rival
3. The Anticipation For Owens v. Zayn Was Special
There are times where we throw around the term "Big Fight Feel" for a match that we are greatly anticipating. The main event of NXT Takeover: Rival, had a big fight feel and then some. This match between Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn was 12 years in the making. These guys have been best friends and bitter enemies over their battles in the independent scene, and their first match under the WWE umbrella was a big deal. The NXT Universe knew of this and was amazing for the entrances and start of this match. After Owens and Zayn made their way to the ring, the NXT Universe was going nuts. A gigantic Ole! chant for Sami Zayn would be followed by a large pocket of the crowd chanting FIGHT OWENS FIGHT, a carryover from FIGHT STEEN FIGHT in his Ring of Honor days. Being the great a**hole that Owens is, he would exit the ring just as Zayn would attempt to engage with him. This would go on for a couple of minutes with Owens rolling back outside a couple of times before Zayn got tired of it and nailed Owens with an amazing senton over the top rope to the outside on the ramp. It was go time.
