10 Things We Learned About AEW’s Blood & Guts On Talk Is Jericho

4. Jericho Didn’t Rehearse The Fall

Jericho's first exposure to AEW's big set piece bump came when he arrived at Daily's Place to check out the structure 24 hours beforehand. Sammy Guevara (of course) was already falling off the top of the cage onto a 10ft thick crash mat. Jericho knew that wouldn't be his landing pad, but he was shocked by what was.

AEW used a six inch thick black gym mat, a stack of empty cardboard boxes, some plywood and a fake metal grate covering. Stunt coordinators told Jericho that real-life stuntmen rely on boxes to soak up the impact and give them some padding. They then invited the wrestler to watch a stuntman take the fall first.

He was wearing a turtle shell backpack and helmet.

Jericho pulled someone aside and said he wouldn't be wearing any of that on the night. "I don't get a helmet", he nervously stated. That's when coordinators invited him to try out the bump so they could gauge his fall - Jericho politely declined.
