10 Things We Learned From A Genuine 1998 WCW Nitro Script

6. Some Of The Direction Is Odd

One would think that WCW's own in-house script would freely use wrestling terminology. You know, phrases like, 'goes over', 'powders', 'promo', 'heel' and 'babyface' - that sort of thing. Instead, it's bizarrely riddled with the kind of things someone who knew little about pro wrestling would say.

For example, when laying out a recap for Roddy Piper's address towards Bret Hart the prior August, the script literally says, Piper is shown speaking to Bret "as a good guy". No babyface, no 'face' and no wrasslin' speak whatsoever. Nah, just "good guy".

Did someone from Turner write this? Possibly.

Maybe this fan is just looking into things a little bit too much, but it does seem a bit strange that WCW's very own scripting for that night's show would choose to be so far removed from industry jargon for no reason whatsoever. "Good guy" isn't the first term a wrestling-centric person would reach for.
