10 Things We Learned From A Genuine 1998 WCW Nitro Script

5. Backstage Segments Were Remarkably Well-Organised

Remember that entry about the lack of details for most of the matches on the episode? Well, things were very different when it came to backstage segments and other promos. WCW made sure to be specific when laying out these moments. Nothing was left to chance, and it was made painstakingly clear what everyone involved would be doing.

How could the company be so organised one minute and then so dis-organised the next?

At one point, even lower-tier workers like Vincent, Stevie Ray and Scott Norton are given clear cut instructions over what they need to do during a backstage scuffle in the locker room between nWo Wolfpac and nWo Hollywood. It's explicitly stated that they must make sure to let Sting slip away mid-melee so he can hunt for Bret Hart.

Side note: It's also interesting that nWo wasn't typed that way. Whomever punched the script together used "NWO" instead. A small detail, sure, but still curious considering the New World Order branding (lower and upper case lettering included) was the most bankable brand WCW had.
